Nonô on Wheels
The story of little Leonor, a brave child with special needs, and her family, moved the APNC - Associação Pedras No Caminho, an NGO. Leonor depends on a continuous feeding machine, a crucial piece of equipment for her survival, the cost of which is not covered by the state. Moreover, the family faces significant financial challenges due to additional medical and logistical costs.
With the generosity of an entity that wishes to remain anonymous, we were able to provide substantial support to mitigate the adversities faced by Leonor and her family.
This episode faithfully reflects the essence of APNC's mission to offer relief and hope to families in vulnerable situations, reinforcing our commitment to creating a support network that transcends all borders.
Leonor's journey highlights the profound impact we can make together, serving as an inspiration to continue our path of solidarity and love for others.
Testimony: "Leonor, who depends on a machine to feed her 24 hours a day, valued at €2,500 and whose cost is not supported by the state, as well as the systems she needs, costing about €150 monthly per box, is a testimony to our shared determination. The generosity bestowed upon us, receiving the machine from a sympathetic mother and a box of systems from another benefactor, reinforces our gratitude and determination. These gestures are vital for Leonor's survival, given her condition of gastric paralysis which prevents her from feeding normally.
Our family, like many others, lives day-to-day trying to cover expenses, with state support proving insufficient for the constant medical and logistical needs. Leonor's return home highlighted the existing gap in support, leading us to question who will assist us on this journey. The solidarity of incredible people has been our strength, despite the constant challenges and the struggle for rights that often seem ignored."
This is the reality of those living in hope and in search of a better future. Leonor's story is not just about adversities, but about the strength of the community and the importance of each gesture of support.
